14 very special animal friendships in pictures

Dogs, pigs, owls, tigers and chimps, we all can be friends

1. Tinni the Dog and Sniffer the Wild Fox

Tinni the dog and Sniffer the wild fox met in the forests of Norway when Tinni was taking a walk in the woods with his owner Torgeir Berge.

2. Torque the Dog and Shrek the Owl

As a chick, Shrek was removed from his mother’s care because handlers were afraid that she might eat him when stressed. Torque adopted Shrek when he was just 6 months old and now they are inseparable pals.

3. Milo the Dachshund and Bonedigger the Lion

Bonedigger was suffering from a metabolic bone disease that left him disabled. Milo the dog, sensing his disability, took the lion into his protection, and the couple has not parted ever since, they've even made more dog friends, Bullet and Angel.

4. Bubbles the African Elephant and Bella the Black Labrador

Bubbles was brought to a safari reserve in the U.S. after she was rescued from ivory poachers in Africa, while Bella was left there by a contractor for the park. They can often be seen playing in the water togethe at the Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina.

5. Bea the Giraffe and Wilma the Ostrich

Bea and Wilma have become great friends at Busch Gardens in the U.S. They have come together on their own as there is no need for them to be close, the two share a huge 65-acre enclosure. They just liked each other.

6. Mabel the Chicken and the Puppies

This year-old hen babysits the puppies and keeps them warm while their mother is away in the yard. Mabel found the puppies while living at her owner's home due to a foot injury.

7. Deer and Bunny

This cute duo was spotted by animal photographer Tanja Askani. We can call them Bambi and Thumper.
