OSM Artist: The ironic juxtapositions of Julian Quaye

OSM Artist: The ironic juxtapositions of Julian Quaye

Meet Julian Quaye, our first featured artist in OSMWeasel!

Julian's work is a great mix of irony and humor. His current work deals with half-human-half-animal portraits that accentuate the characteristics of both sides.

He describes his work as "paintings that illustrate his love of ironic juxtaposition with a touch of steam punk sensibility and a huge dose of kitsch" and he delivers indeed.

For example, his piece "The aviator" features a penguin in early period pilot's uniform at the North Pole. Or to put it another way, a bird that can't fly dressed in flying kit and standing at the wrong end of the world.

With this excellent concept, he's currently working on individual character biographies that will become part of a larger narrative.
