Rafael Araujo's "Golden Ratio Colouring Book"

Artists will love this colouring book full of Golden Ratio beautiful illustrations

Golden Ratio is a mathematical formula that can create a perfect symmetrical relation between two proportions. It is now known that nature "designs" using this formula and so have many of the masters in arts over the years.

This relationship is indeed intriguing and Venezuelan architect Rafael Araujo was caught in it from an early age. For over 40 years he's been drawing the most beautiful illustrations of nature, entirely by hand. At an old drafting table he adeptly renders the mathematical brilliance of nature with just a pencil, compass, ruler and protractor.

And now, he's running a Kickstarter to see his creations compiled in a book simply titled "Golden Ratio Coloring Book".

Rafael applies the Golden Ratio to his geometric formulas and leaves the construction lines intact to highlight this natural mathematical framework. Not surprisingly, it can take him up to 100 hours!! to create a single composition.

"Phyllotaxis" is the tendency in nature for things to grow in spiral patterns. You may have observed that sea shells, plant leaves and branches grow in spirals where the ratio of the amount of turn from one branch to the next is precisely Phi.

You should really check out Rafael's Kickstarter campaign, and if you should support it, you could be rewarded with one of the 100 signed prints of one of his best work:
