This bottle can purify water anywhere in seconds

Water is a worldwide concern as far too many people do not have access to safe drinking water, and those that do rarely have truly clean drinking water. Contaminants such as fracking chemicals, pharmaceuticals and even E. coli contamination are turning up into drinking water sources, leading to the use of disposable bottles which are the not-so-great option to drink 'cause they leave a deep footprint on earth.

Luckily there are technologies for purifying water on-the-go that have been developed and launched for a few years already. One of this products is the GRAYL® Ultralight Purifier Bottle, a fast and easy to use device that makes clean, purified drinking water from virtually any fresh water source in the world in less than 15 seconds.

Grayl's breakthrough bottles work like a French Press, just fill - press down - and drink the water filtered into the clean inner cup.

Founded in 2012, Grayl was inspired by two global travelers, Nancie Weston and Travis Merrigan, and their concerns about global plastic pollution and the poor quality (health, taste, odor, clarity) of water that people around the world endure daily. They no longer wanted to contribute to the environmental impact made by disposable water bottles. So Nancie put together a team of dedicated and talented professionals to create a device that not only made water safe and taste great, but also that was beautifully designed and made with the highest quality materials. 18 months later, Grayl was ready to launch with their first groundbreaking solution to providing clean water everywhere and reducing reliance on bottled water: The Water Filtration Cup

GRAYL® Legend Water Filtration Cup, launched in 2013.

Much was learned over the first six months, especially around manufacturing, product design and user feedback. And then the kickstarter for the Ultralight bottle was launched.

"The Ultralight Purifier (+Filter) Bottle represents a pure distillation of all we’ve learned over the last few years and since have aspired to create." - The Grayl.

The GRAYL Ultralight Purifier Bottle weighs only 10.9 oz., its portability and ease of use make it great for traveling, adventure outdoor activities and emergencies situations. It does NOT require batteries, UV bulbs, chemicals, pumping, sucking, squeezing or prolonged waiting.

Unlike standard mechanical filtration, the Ultralight is powered by a patented game-changing electroadsorptive media capable of removing submicron pathogens and inorganic contaminants. It works like this:

- With [ONE PRESS], electroadhesion and ion exchange create a powerful submicron trap for pathogens (viruses, bacteria and protozoan cysts). Additionally, the purifier media contains many embedded layers of ultra-powdered activated carbon which create a large surface area for removing toxins like chemicals and heavy metals. Silver treated zeolites, a natural antimicrobial, inhibit growth and keeps the purifier fresh between uses. -

Removes 99.9999% of viruses (e.g. Rotavirus, Hepatitis A), 99.9999% of bacteria (e.g. E coli, Salmonella), and 99.999% of protozoan cysts (e.g. Giardia, Cryptosporidium).

Grayl products are an sustainable solution to the single-use plastic water bottle massive consumption that is proliferating at a staggering rate, causing an impact in global plastic pollution. This is especially evident in destinations where tap water is unsafe to drink, which often correlates to an increase in plastic pollution in streams, estuaries and empty lots. Travelers can now avoid buying bottled water altogether, and instead use the Ultralight Purifier Bottle for treating all their water. Just 1 purifier cartridge displaces 300 single-use water bottles.

The lifespan of the filter or purifier is dependent on the quality of your water source. High levels of sediment in the water will shorten the life span of the filter. It is recommended to change the filter after 300 cycles (40 gal / 150 L).

The Grayl products are currently in preorder at their online-shop, prices go from $59.95 for the 'Ultralight' to $89.95 for the 'Legend', a steel and fancy version of the fantastic bottle.

We better opt-in for this sustainable alternatives to plastic water bottles to help reduce water and land pollution. We can care for our planet and wear good-looking and 'futuristic' devices like the Grayl bottles, all at the same time.

You can learn more about the Grayl products in their website, facebook, twitter and instagram.
