Beetlejuice 2 confirmed by Winona Ryder

Beetlejuice 2 confirmed by Winona Ryder

Tim Burton, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder will be back for Beetlejuice 2

A Beetlejuice sequel has been spoken of since the late 80s, shortly after the release of Beetlejuice, which was a huge hit.

Beetlejuice is a cult classic and it has been announced by Tim Burton, returning director of the original movie, that a sequel is happening!

The 1988 film was created on a $15 million budget and grossed over $73 million in North America. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton, who played Beetlejuice, teamed up on two other projects after Beetlejuice. The first was Batman in 1989 which was created on a budget of $48 million and grossed a whopping $411 million. Three years later, Batman Returns hit the screens, again with Burton directing and Keaton as Batman. With an increased budget, the $65 million project was not as financially successful as the 1989 film but still made four times it’s budget, raking in $266 million.

Since the caped crusader took on Catwoman and The Penguin in Batman Returns, Burton and Keaton have not worked on another project together. After 24 years, the two will be joining forces once again to bring audiences ‘Beetlejuice 2’. Although, to the best of our knowledge, no paperwork has been signed, Michael Keaton has said on multiple occasions… “If Tim’s in, I’m in!”.
Now with Tim announcing the sequel, we can get excited to see Keaton back to play the pervertedly humorous ‘Beetlejuice’.

Winona Ryder has been confirmed to return as Lidia for the upcoming sequel. The film has not been given a release date but it’s safe to assume the big budget movie will be arriving very soon after a completed script. It’ll likely be at least a few years before audiences get to see the long-awaited sequel but it’s good to know things are finally moving forward.

No announcements have been made by the director or actors regarding the direction the movie is going in, or what any part of the story line will be. Suspense will have to build until the announcement and trailer day comes. No other actors have been confirmed to return but Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis are likely to be the next choices, if they have any interest in returning for the sequel.
