Storyboard to film comparison of 'Batman: The Dark Knight'

When comparing a scene against the storyboard is when you can get a glimpse of the hard work that implies the long road from conception to production of a movie. As Christopher Nolan is frequently called a perfectionist, 'The Dark Knight' surely had to literally go by the script in action scenes.

This brief but densely packed piece by Glass Distortion places the storyboards for 'The Dark Knight' up against the actual film for an examination of an especially fraught chase scene, a move which reminds us how carefully the film was deliberated. It's hard to say if the film's over-planning works in its favor, or if it's merely a horse for the director to hang good performances on. Whatever the case, this 49-second piece will give you a unique and revitalizing look at the way movies can be made.

Here is a taste of 'The Dark Knight' script where the video begins:

202 EXT. LOWER LEVEL STREET -- NIGHT

Batman accelerates, oblivious to the STACCATO of CLEAVED
wing mirrors as the bat-pod RAZORS through traffic- CROSSES
a BUSY INTERSECTION- The bat-pod CUTS off the crowded lower
level street, ROARING over into the PARKING LANES-
Batman squeezes his triggers- BLASTING at PARKED CARS, BLOWING
them out of the way, literally CANNONING A PATH for the pod...
